Peter is an agile goalkeeper who signed from Sunderland RCA in early October 2013. Prior to this he signed for Sunderland RCA from Consett FC in the close season. He is highly a highly rated shot stopper. He was released from Middlesbrough FC in 2011 and has quickly established himself in the Northern League. Commands his area well and has good distribution skills.

Mark Bell

DOB: 09/10/1982

Highly experienced shot stopper Mark signed for Darlington in December 2012 from West Auckland, for whom he played in the 2012 FA Vase final. He had two seasons with Blyth Spartans between 2008 and 2010 where he played in the Conference North, and was also part of the Blyth team that reached the third round of the FA Cup in 2009. Earlier in the run, he was man of the match when Blyth drew at Bournemouth on live television. After he signed for Darlington in November 2012, he became a regular and never finished on the losing side.

Gary Brown

Gary was recruited in the summer of 2012 after just one training session and was immediately named skipper. It turned out to be an inspired move as he become the first Darlington skipper since Kevan Smith to captain the club to promotion. The no-nonsense defender can also play at full-back and in midfield if needed. Before joining Darlington he played for Durham City who he joined towards the end of the 2010/11 season from Shildon. Before that he had a spell at Jarrow Roofing and Blyth Spartans where he was involved in their memorable FA Cup run during the 2008/09 season which saw them reach the third round.

Joe Tait

Joe rejoined Darlington in January 2014 after leaving the previous summer to join Gateshead. Joe played an important part in Darlington’s 2012/13 Northern League title win after signing in September 2012. Joe left Darlington to sign a professional deal with Gateshead. However opportunities were limited for the defender and he rejoined Quakers early in 2014. Joe, who started his career with Hartlepool United and made numerous appearances in their youth and reserve team setups.

Leon Scott

Leon Scott

Leon is a product of the Middlesbrough Academy, and has played for Peterlee, Dunston Federation, Newcastle Blue Star, Whitby Town (twice), Harrogate Town, Shildon and Norton & Stockton Ancients. He is a strong powerful player who started last season in central midfield and was switched to left back midway through the season following the arrival of Terry Galbraith, and finished the campaign there. Nevertheless, he still finished the season with ten league goals.

Chris Hunter

Chris Hunter

Chris was signed during the summer from Northern League club Shildon, for whom he had played for two seasons. He started his career at Chester-le-Street before going to Yavapi College in Arizona and in his second season there was voted Most Valuable Player. He then moved to California and played for University of California, Santa Barbara, and had a trial at Toronto before returning to the North East and signing for Shildon.

Jordan Robinson

Jordan Robinson

DOB: 28/04/1991

Jordan started his career at Middlesbrough, and moved to Premiership side Wigan Athletic as a youngster. He played for Wigan in the FA Cup against Hull in 2011, and was released by the Latics at the end of the 2011/12 season. He signed for his local team, Billingham Synthonia, and joined Quakers just before the transfer deadline in March 2013. Made a couple of fleeting appearances before the end of the season but expect him to be more involved in first team action this term.

Stephen Harrison

Stephen was a mainstay of the side that won the Northern League title in 2013. The defender left shortly afterwards however due to work commitments but rejoined in late 2013. The right back brings experience to the Darlington back line and an ability to push forward. He is also capable of chipping in with a few goals as well. Stephen originally joined Darlington ahead of the 2012/13 campaign from Bedlington Terriers where he spent one season joining from Blue Square North Blyth Spartans. A well travelled non-league schemer “Harra” counts Gateshead, Durham City and Spennymoor amongst his former clubs after his release from Sunderland.

Alan White

Alan joined Darlington in late August for his third spell at the club on loan from Harrogate Town. Prior to this he had two previous spells at the club, the first which lasted for 75 appearances in 2007 when he signed for Dave Penney, and the second for 24 appearances in 2010 when Steve Staunton was in charge. White was part of the Quakers’ team that just missed out on a trip to Wembley in the 2008 League Two play offs. Alan’s former clubs include Middlesbrough, Luton, Colchester, Leyton Orient, Boston, Notts County, Peterborough, and more recently Harrogate Town.

Sean Gregan

A player that needs little introduction to the Darlington faithful having risen through the youth ranks to become arguably the clubs finest export. After 134 appearances for the Quakers, Gregan made a £350K move to Preston North End where he became a fans favourite earning the nickname “God” appearing in over 200 games, primarily as a midfielder. A £2m switch to Premiership West Brom followed before spells at Leeds and Oldham where in the twilight of his career he was switched back to the defensive position at which he started his career. Brief stints at Fleetwood and Kendal preceded his return to Darlington last summer. Acts as coach and provides cover in the centre of defence if needed.

Terry joined Darlington in late November 2012 from Dunston UTS where he was part of their 2012 FA Vase winning side. Capable of playing left-back, left wing and central midfield, the former Blyth Spartans player has brought several options to the Darlington team. He scored one of the most important goals in Darlington’s recent history when he scored the equaliser in the top of the table clash at Spennymoor in January, and Quakers went on to win the game 3-1 and take control at the top of the table.

An exciting young midfielder who arrived at Darlington in December 2012 from Hebburn Town. As soon as he signed, he gained 200 followers on Twitter! Jonny has played previously for Ryhope CW, Sunderland RCA, Crook Town and Durham City where he played 38 times in the Evo-Stik Division One North during the 2011/12 season. He briefly joined Hebburn, and he signed for Quakers after starring for Hebburn in the Durham Challenge Cup tie meeting between the two teams.

Dale Hopson

Dale signed for Darlington in early December of 2013. Dale made his breakthrough with Darlington during the 2011/12 season. He joined Huddersfield the following season but returned to Darlington in middle of the 2013/14 campaign after the end of his contract with the Terriers by penning an 18 month deal. The midfielder was one of the highlights during a horrendous 2011/12 season. Dale came through the youth team under Craig Liddle and was called into the first team which was savaged by the effects of administration. He made his debut in a 3-1 win at Ebbsfleet where he scored. He followed that up with a goal in his next game against Tamworth. The Teessider went on to make 16 appearances for the club and impressed on a number of occasions. At the end of the 2011/12 season he was snapped up by Huddersfield Town.

Amar joined Darlington during the summer of 2012 from Durham City. He started his career in Newcastle United’s youth team and joined Durham City from Northern League side Bishop Auckland in 2010 and finished his first season as leading scorer for the Citizens when they were in the Evostik League. He joined Darlo in the summer of 2012, and finished the season as top scorer with 24 league goals.

David Dowson

David Dowson

David has the distinction of scoring on both his Darlington debuts – against Aldershot in the Football League in 2009, and Bishop Auckland in the Northern League in 2012. His move to Darlington in the summer of 2012 marked his second spell at the club having first joined Quakers on loan in 2009 from Sunderland. He was released by the Black Cats in 2010 and after short spells with Gateshead and York City joined Durham City in October 2010. David made only a handful of appearances for York before moving to Durham City where he became a regular goalscorer, just as he did with Darlo, notching 18 last season as Darlington won the division.

Stephen Thompson

Tommo signed for Quakers in September 2012 from fellow Northern League club Durham City. He started his career at Middlesbrough without making a first team appearance, and then moved to Port Vale where he scored twice in 17 appearances. He was freed by Vale, and joined Telford United in Conference North. He returned to the North East in the summer of 2010, and joined Durham City in their Evostik League days. He was a regular scorer at New Ferens Park before he was transferred to Quakers where he was also a regular scorer and a provider of goals. He is equally at home both scoring and making goals for others.

Nathan Fisher

Nathan joined Darlington in September 2013 following a brief spell in Thailand following his departure from Gateshead at the end 2012/13 season. Nathan started his career at Middlesbrough and went on to have spells with Gretna and Durham City. He later moved to Chester-le-Street Town where he made 39 appearances and scored 34 goals. In June 2010 he signed for Gateshead for £30,000 and went on to spend three years with the Tyneside club. He went on to make 86 appearances for the club. At the end of the 2012/13 campaign he was one of seven Gateshead players released by the club. He had a brief spell in Thailand after Gateshead but has now returned to the North East and has joined Darlington.
